Monte Cristo Area

Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest

Monte Cristo was an old mining town that had its heyday in the 1890's. Now, you can hike, bike, snowshoe or ski down an old road to the town site. Several great hikes get their start from points along the road such as Gothic Basin and Glacier Basin, but just a trip down the road itself is also worthwhile. The photos shown here were taken near Twin Bridges, along the South Fork of the Sauk River.
