Image Lake is located just north of an old volcano name Glacier Peak, at the heart of the mountain's namesake wilderness area. It's a one-day trip for the most hearty individuals, so naturally my brother and I made it a two-day trip. We began by hiking ten miles up the Suiattle River Trail. There, the trail forks up Miner's Ridge six more miles to the lake. We made it four miles up the ridge before darkness encapsulated us and we were forced to pitch camp. In the morning, two short miles brought us the most picturesque views of Glacier Peak in all the Wilderness.
