A new book entitled: "Fifteen Hundred Miles"

I have two homes. They're different, but I love them both.

I grew up in Washington State amid tall trees and drippy skies at the foot of the Cascade Mountains. It is home.

My Desert Home sits smack dab in the middle of the Sonoran in central Arizona. It's the hottest place in North America and is my adopted home.

I'm lucky enough to have found love for two places, though disparate and separated. Living in the desert, summer's heat each year chased me back to the Northwest and so did winter holidays. I tried flying at first, but when that didn't work out I hit the road.

I wanted to record what I saw along the way, but it's hard to take good photograps and drive. I've tried. In the absence of pictures, I turned to writing in order to document the things I saw on the road. My new book, entitled "Fifteen Hundred Miles" is all about what happened in between.
