One of the saddest realities that men would have to face in their life is that the hairs on their head are beginning to thin, and balding has ensued. While this commonly takes when they are in their 50s to 60s, some men experience this at a much younger age, where they are supposed to be enjoying beautiful locks and looking their age. In the case of the latter, men usually turn to hair restoration products to solve this particular issue. With that said, what are some of the hair growing products out in the market which actually work and deliver great results?
The only FDA-approved drug for hair loss is Finasteride, also known more popularly as Propecia. While it was initially touted as an anti-prostate cancer treatment, it has been found to prevent the production of DHT, or androgen dihydrotestosterone, which is the evil behind hair loss among men. It’s guaranteed to work, given that it works to the core and directly addresses the cause of hair loss, but men might have to sacrifice dealing with sexual side effects, and would have to take it on a perpetual basis to sustain its effects.
Apart from Finasteride, another product that’s known to reduce hair loss is Minoxidil, which is a topical drug applied on the “problem areas”. It is classified as a “marginally effective” product, with around 60% of its users actually experiencing hair growth. Just like Propecia, however, its use must be made into a lifetime commitment in order to sustain its effects of having much thicker hair. Given that it’s a topical solution, one can experience chest pain and itchiness associated with its use, though it only can be experienced among a small number of users.
